Description

Gilbert & Sullivan’s most famous opera The Mikado bounces along as a riot of colour, comedy and cutting commentary. It’s a Hello Kitty, pink polka-dotted, smart-phone-selfie world called Titipu and its residents are a mad bunch of bureaucrats, young schoolgirls and a captivating cougar named Katisha. It is quite simply beautifully executed comedy.

Description

Festival Theatre is the largest proscenium arch theatre in Adelaide, seating close to 2000 people.

It was designed as both a lyric theatre and concert hall, and is used not only for theatrical productions and large concerts, but also for graduation ceremonies, seminars, musicals and a plethora of live artistic functions.

Its vast backstage area makes the theatre allotment one of the largest in the southern hemisphere and is much loved and wanted of companies with large sets.

It also houses the Silver Jubilee Organ, a remarkable ‘hovering’ pipe organ built and donated to mark the Silver Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II.

Festival Theatre is located on King William Road, Adelaide.
