Hugh Sheridan returns to Adelaide by popular demand for the 2010 Adelaide Cabaret Festival with his show Newley Discovered. The show tells the story of the life and times of real life singer /composer /performer Anthony Newley, his rise to fame, failed relationships, and love of music.Hugh Sheridan large

Sheridan enters the stage embodying the character of Newley and never drops it once. His band consisting of a pianist, cellist and percussionist provide great accompaniment, and extra characters are often voiced by the pianist.

Sheridan is a consumate performer and perfectly personable. Appreciative of every drop of applause and gratitude from his audience, he leaves us wanting more of his charm and charisma. With a fine singing voice, Sheridan takes us on a journey with a thick east London accent, and sings a lot of Newley's most well known songs - even if you didn't know who Newley was before you arrived, you will definitely recognise his works. Songs included Gold Finger, I got a golden ticket, Candyman and What Kind Of Fool Am I.

Lighting design must be commended in this production as it very effectively drove scene changes, and heightened emotional moments.

Sure to be popular with audiences, Sheridan has created a neat little cabaret production, which was very enjoyable.
